StepsCal is a static calculator site. All computation runs in your browser. We do not require accounts, do not sell personal data, and collect the minimum needed to keep the site working.
What we collect
- Contact messages. When you email us (name, address, message body) so we can reply.
- localStorage values. Unit preference, dark-mode choice, shared inputs such as height and weight. These are stored on your device and never transmitted to us.
- Aggregate analytics. If analytics are enabled, Google Analytics 4 is used for aggregate traffic counts. No personal data beyond GA4\'s standard collection.
What we do not collect
No account information, no fitness data, no per-user calculator history, no cross-site tracking. Your input values never leave your device.

- Google Analytics 4 (only if enabled on this deployment)
Retention
Contact-form and email messages are retained for 12 months, then deleted. localStorage lives on your device until you clear it.
Your rights
You can request deletion of any correspondence we hold by emailing hello@stepscal.com. If you are in the European Union, GDPR rights apply: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection.
Cookies and similar technologies
If analytics are active, Google Analytics 4 may set a cookie for aggregate measurement. Preferences (locale, units, dark mode) use localStorage, not cookies. No advertising cookies are placed.

We update this policy when we materially change how the site handles information. The revision date at the top of this page marks the most recent update.
